  • Boats, Boats Everywhere…

Every now and then my mind goes blank and starting a blog post in an appropriate way seems almost impossible. Now for example, I am sitting here for half an hour, staring at these rusty boats, and I have no idea where to begin. Anyway… it was August (yes, I know, I am extremely behind with sharing my life with the world), and Will and I wanted to go for a day-trip somewhere out of London. After browsing Google Maps for a very long time and trying to figure out which seaside town has the most romantic fisherman village look, we ended up choosing Leigh-on-Sea. Néha egész komolyan úgy érzem, hogy szinte…

  • Wildlife Spotting: The Deer of Richmond Park

Every time I mentioned that I would really like to go to Richmond, Will’s answer was constantly pushing the limits of my non existing patience: ‘even though Richmond is stunning all year long, the very first time you see it should be in the summer’. After many weekends when I thought it is already summer enough and I really wanted to go and see the famous deer but I always got the same answer: ‘even though the weather is ALMOST perfect, we should wait a bit more’, one Friday evening he stood there with a huge grin on his face and said: ‘Tomorrow is supposed to be very hot. We are going…

  • Highclere Castle

The Dream Day of a Downton Fan

Despite the fact that I am a serious castle maniac, I wasn’t aware of the existence of Highclere Castle for a very long time. Then, a few years ago I discovered this show entitled Downton Abbey, and I managed to become such an addict, that I could sit there all night long, watching a complete season – one episode after the other -, after which the usual withdrawal symptoms were torturing me for days. Annak ellenére, hogy határozottan kastély- és vármániás vagyok, a Highclere kastély teljesen elkerülte a figyelmemet. Aztán pár évvel ezelőtt szembejött a Downton Abbey című filmsorozat, amire sikerült olyan szinten rákattannom, hogy képes voltam egy egész évadot egyhuzamban…

  • MCM London Comic Con

I am an extremely shy person when it comes to try and take photos of people I don’t know, and every time I actually convince myself to do it, I am prepared to run, if the subject notices my ‘suspicious’ behaviour, and tries to come after me. It’s also worth mentioning, that my knowledge of any kind of anime, manga, video game, sci-fi, or cosplay is very limited, but I thought, spending a day at the UK’s biggest modern pop culture weekend can be both fun, and a good exercise to put myself out there, and take a few shots. Luckily, these people are all lovely – and extremely exhibitionist -, and they love to…

  • Exploring the Peak District: The Roaches

On a long-awaited July weekend Will, Mikey, Sigga and I travelled to Manchester to visit Elena. Since all of us are big nature lovers, Elena decided to show us one of her favourite spots in the Peak District: The Roaches. The name comes from the French Les Roches – just because someone wanted to appear very refined -, which (who would have guessed?) means The Rocks, and it refers to the spectacular rocky ridge at 505m above sea level, very popular with rock climbers and hikers. Egy várva-várt júliusi hétvégén Will, Mikey, Sigga meg én meglátogattuk Elenát Manchesterben. Mivel mindannyian imádjuk a természetet, Elena úgy döntött, hogy megmutatja nekünk az egyik…

  • Going Underground: Jubilee Line at Charing Cross Station

It is a well-known fact, that London has a serious tube and tunnel system, and many parts of it are disused and abandoned. Over time more and more tube lines were constructed, extended, transformed, moved, and sometimes closed. Usually people are not allowed to visit these places, but sometimes the London Transport Museum opens them for a short period of time, so the most curious Londoners have a chance to get an insight.

  • Wildlife Spotting: London Zoo Sunset Safari

Ok, so if someone invites me to go anywhere, where I can see some animals, I can’t and won’t say no. This wasn’t any different, when Giulia found out that during the summer months London Zoo organizes an event called Sunset Safari, which means, that on every Friday – after the opening hours – the zoo reopens for the (theoretically) adults, to enjoy some food, (alcoholic) drinks, and wildlife. So we quickly got some tickets, and on a sunny Friday afternoon we went to discover the unknown. Nos, ha valaki bármilyen okból kifolyólag olyan helyre hív, ahol állatok vannak, arra nem tudok nemet mondani. Nem volt ez másképp akkor sem, mikor…

  • Wildlife Spotting: Peacocks

Despite the fact that Holland Park is considered to be West-London’s most peaceful park, for an embarrassingly long time I didn’t even realise it’s there. Then one weekend I decided to explore a park I haven’t been to before, and that was the moment when I caught a glimpse of a small green area on the map, right next to Hyde park.

  • The White Cliffs of Beachy Head

I reached the point when an early morning at Victoria station feels like home: I spot people right away in front of WHSmith, buying the train tickets and journey treats feels like an old routine, after which we jump on the train to head towards an unknown destination. This time we chose to visit Beachy Head. Már egészen otthonosan érzem magam kora reggel a Victoria pályaudvaron, egyből észreveszem az embereket a megszokott találkahelyen, rutinosan járulunk a jegy-automata elé amit általában gyors kaja vásárlás követ, – csak hogy formában tartsuk a rágó izmainkat -, majd pattanunk is fel a vonatra. Ezúttal Beachy Head volt az úticél.

  • The Haunted Epping Forest

I can spend hours just looking at Google Maps, and – based on the green and blue patches – trying to decide which park should be the next one to explore. When that’s done, and weekend comes – and by that time I am very tired and I should sleep really -, I get depressed if I don’t leave my flat shortly after opening my eyes. During one of these Google Maps sessions a huge green patch positioned in North-East London caught my attention. The name of that huge green patch is Epping forest. Since the last stop of the Central (Heating) tube line is Epping – which is in zone 6,…
