• Clapham South Deep-level Shelter

Going Underground: Clapham South Deep-level Shelter

As part of the Hidden London tours organised by the London Transport Museum curious visitors have the chance to go down and walk around the Clapham South deep-level shelter, which is one of the eight Second World War civilian deep shelters built in London. Walking around the different rooms, halls and tunnels 30 metres deep under ground while we could regularly hear the Northern line trains passing above us was quite and experience, but I think the stories we heard during the one hour tour were even more interesting. A Londoni Közlekedési Múzeum által szervezett Rejtett London túrák egyike során a kíváncsi népeknek lehetősége adódik a Clapham Southnál található világháborús…

  • Photographica Camera Fair London 2016

    Photographica International Camera Collectors Fair

Myself and a few friends recently had a chance to check out the Photographica International Camera Collectors Fair, which is organised once a year by the Photographic Collectors Club of Great Britain. Even though I am quite new to this whole photography topic, and I am just scratching the surface of this massive amount of knowledge about the subject, it felt like this would be an interesting event to visit. Nemrég néhány barátommal alkalmunk adódott ellátogatni a Photographica nevű nemzetközi kamera vásárra, ami évente egyszer kerül megrendezésre a Nagy-britanniai Fotó Gyűjtők Klubja által. Annak ellenére, hogy nagyon újnak számítok a témában, és ennek a hatalmas tudáshalmaznak épp csak hogy a felületét érintgetem, ez az…

  • MCM London Comic Con

I am an extremely shy person when it comes to try and take photos of people I don’t know, and every time I actually convince myself to do it, I am prepared to run, if the subject notices my ‘suspicious’ behaviour, and tries to come after me. It’s also worth mentioning, that my knowledge of any kind of anime, manga, video game, sci-fi, or cosplay is very limited, but I thought, spending a day at the UK’s biggest modern pop culture weekend can be both fun, and a good exercise to put myself out there, and take a few shots. Luckily, these people are all lovely – and extremely exhibitionist -, and they love to…

  • Going Underground: Jubilee Line at Charing Cross Station

It is a well-known fact, that London has a serious tube and tunnel system, and many parts of it are disused and abandoned. Over time more and more tube lines were constructed, extended, transformed, moved, and sometimes closed. Usually people are not allowed to visit these places, but sometimes the London Transport Museum opens them for a short period of time, so the most curious Londoners have a chance to get an insight.

  • Masquerading

Another strange fact about me is that I really enjoy walking around on the streets in a very eye-catching dress or costume and watching people’s reactions when they see me. Usually they only stare at you when they think it can’t be seen, but in case you look straight into their eyes, they will look away. Some of them will smile and start wondering what are your plans for the evening, if they are brave enough, they will even ask, but most of them will pretend they didn’t see you. Observing social behaviour in different cultures is an extremely entertaining activity. Egy másik fura tény rólam az lenne, hogy élvezettel járkálok…

  • Canalway Cavalcade

As I mentioned in the previous episode, we were enjoying our sunny Sunday afternoon with cream tea and a photogenic cat, when Caroline called us saying that there is this boat festival in Little Venice, and they are already there. What’s the reaction of a responsible wayfarer in such a situation? “Let’s go”, of course. How does a responsible wayfarer change location? On foot, of course. Ok, there was a little bit of tube cheating there, because we took the Northern line to Camden Town, but then we decided to walk all the way along the canal to see the Canalway Cavalcade. Amint azt az előző részben említettem, épp a vasárnap délutáni jól…
