  • Cinque Terre in One Day

    Cinque Terre in One Day

Cinque Terre, a.k.a “The Five Lands” lies on the Italian coast to the North West from La Spezia and, as you might expect, it consists of five fishing villages: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare. It is considered to be quite similar to the famous Amalfi coast and the internet is full of “Amalfi or Cinque Terre? Idon’tknowwhichonetochoose!” types of questions. We were lucky enough to visit both places during one trip and thanks to this we had a chance to compare them in an unbiased way. If we would have to choose the place we preferred, Cinque Terre would be the winner. Let’s see why? Cinque Terre, azaz az…

  • Wedding in Portovenere – Photo Diary

The main reason and highlight of our Italy trip was the wedding of my brother, Zsolt, and my since-then-sister-in-law, Zsóka. During one of their previous trips they both fell in love with Portovenere so much, that they decided to have their big day and say yes (or maybe “si”?) here. As an addition to the official photographer’s work I also spent some time taking a few pictures in the background and I decided to share my favourite ones on the blog.

  • Positano and Amalfi

    Positano and Amalfi

Positano and Amalfi, the two famous towns built upon the steep cliffs of the Amalfi coast are very successful in attracting tourists from the surrounding area. For example us. After spending a day visiting this neighbourhood, we came to the conclusion that both locations are stunningly beautiful and look awesome on the postcards, but… And here comes the but. I mean, more buts! Let’s see what happened. Positano és Amalfi, azaz az Amalfi part két igencsak híres, meredek sziklafalra épült települése sikeresen odavonzza a környéken tanyázó népeket. Köztük minket is. Egy napnyi téblábolás után a konklúziónk a következő: tényleg gyönyörű szép, képeslapra illő helyek ezek, deee… És itt jön a…

  • Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius

Sorrento – The Land Where Lemons Grow

The truth is, that we didn’t really know much about Sorrento before our visit. A few years ago I saw some photos of the famous Valley of the Mills, which made this sleepy little tourist paradise become an additional item on my travel bucket list. During our stay, however, we realised that besides the mill ruins Sorrento has many other interesting things to offer. For example, this area is the country’s most famous lemon-centre and produces the tastiest Limoncello.

  • Perhentian Islands

    Chilling on the Perhentian Islands

The Perhentian Islands lie next to the northeastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. They are so far to the north, that they could easily belong to Thailand. There were two very convincing reasons why we chose these islands instead of the famous Langkawi Islands: they are not touristy at all and you have a chance to see and swim with turtles. A Perhentian szigetek Malajzia észak-keleti csücskénél fekszenek.

    Ko Tao, a Paradise Lost

Ko Tao is a tiny island to the north from Ko Samui, and the only way to get there is by boat. Since the journey is only two hours long, our initial plan was to visit Ko Tao as part of a day trip. But when we checked the timetable and realised that the ferry leaves Ko Samui at 8AM and returnes at 3PM, spending the night at Ko Tao seemed to make more sense, so we booked a last-minute accommodation.

The Rainforests and Sandy Beaches of Ko Samui

After exploring Bangkok and visiting the elephants there was one more thing left on our to do list: find an island, and relax for a few days. Thailand is an awesome place to visit from beach point of view as well. You can travel to this country whenever you want to, and you will always find a seaside or an island where the weather is ideal. In September for example, theoretically the east coast should be the one to choose, so based on this information we decided to discover Ko Samui and the surrounding islands.

  • Boats, Boats Everywhere…

Every now and then my mind goes blank and starting a blog post in an appropriate way seems almost impossible. Now for example, I am sitting here for half an hour, staring at these rusty boats, and I have no idea where to begin. Anyway… it was August (yes, I know, I am extremely behind with sharing my life with the world), and Will and I wanted to go for a day-trip somewhere out of London. After browsing Google Maps for a very long time and trying to figure out which seaside town has the most romantic fisherman village look, we ended up choosing Leigh-on-Sea. Néha egész komolyan úgy érzem, hogy szinte…

  • The Jersey Experience: Lazy Day on the Seaside

The initial plan was to visit Jersey in one day. Early morning flight, we get there right before the Durrell Wildlife Park opening time, spend the day wandering around, and fly back to London in the evening. Luckily, I have a much more experienced sister (/me bowing humbly), who suggested to stay one more day and look around a little bit, because Jersey must be a very cool place. So we stayed. The next morning – after a long and relaxing sleep, but still with numb feet – we were analysing the map in order to decide where to go. After having a short argument, and involving the other guests also having…
